UCCF Holiday Diaries 2
Hello people of GOD. So I made the long trip from Festac (Lagos) to Ondo first thing on Thursday and that marked the end of a very short stint at home. Back to the beautiful place that is called NIEPA...and Mama Ifaka’s bread, and Porter Gbenga and his bullets (Please don’t ever tell him I typed this. Let this be our little secret….winks….) I can’t say I achieved much other than eating lots of chicken and beef. You begin to wonder why GOD didn’t make eating meat a way to edify “the hidden man of our hearts”. Just think about it for a second. We would have run Satan out of business by now. Instead of praying in tongues why can’t I just eat meat???Atherosclerosis answers my spirit. Sad.
And now I know my dream of eating meat to edification can never come to reality, one thing I still know that can come to pass is seeing you all fulfilling destiny. We talked about having definite plans and structures for how our holiday pans out with Jesus “at the centre of it all” (T.S.S. thanks for this phrase). The holiday is pretty long for 200level students and if well managed will be a fantastic opportunity to lay a foundation that will help you build your 5years of medical school to a successful completion. If poorly managed and we could be looking at 5 of the most frustrating years of your life, and that’s not counting the aftermath. So far I have enjoyed Medical school and one thing I know for sure that has enabled me to savour every moment is GOD. I have enjoyed grace like “Ki lode”. The opportunity to not just fellowship with GOD but also work in his vineyard has definitely made MASSIVE grace available for me. Now I want every single one of you to enjoy this same abundance of grace so that you can really “rock” medical school. Having a solid foundation built on Jesus is the only way. Build that foundation right from now and you won’t depart from it when the going gets tough.
Also, I’ll like to quickly dispel a common misconception. That if you schedule to pray 20 minutes a day every week (140minutes), and you miss 5days of prayer (100minutes) you can pray for 140 minutes in the last two days of the week. It doesn’t work that way Unimedites! I’ll rather have a man who prays 5minutes consistently every single day of his life than one who chooses the extremes, praying 5hours once every week….Christianity is not a ritual; it’s a way of life. Imagine not eating food for 5days and then eating like a glutton, just like I did when I was at home for two days and then repeating this cycle every week for a month. You will end up with many nutritional defects. The same thing applies spiritually. You have got to be consistent. I prefer to use the word “Stable”. If you’re unstable you are going to run into many troubles in life generally. That’s why I said in the previous article to start small. Start with a schedule that you can always keep to. For instance, it will surprise you to know that when I’m in UNIMED I keep to a schedule of 30 minutes for my quiet time. Does that mean I don’t pray for hours? NO. Does that mean I only pray and study for 30minutes every day? NO. More often than not I spend a big chunk of that base time (30minutes) just worshipping and praising Him and end up going on more than 30minutes, but I always try hard to make sure no matter what I try to spend 30minutes at the least with my Father. Now am I satisfied with this as my base time? Most, most definitely a resounding NO! But I have a solid foundation I can build on as I adapt to life in Medical school.
So simply put, don’t go for the inconsistent extremes. Rather choose little consistent steps. You will generate massive spiritual stamina compared to someone doing once in a week night vigils and going the other 6 days of the week of any sort of communication with GOD, killing him/herself. Confess with me:
Father I thank you for your Holy written word. Your word says I have temperance (self-control) as a fruit (Galatians 5:22) and therefore I believe I have it. I exercise temperance in all areas of my life. I don’t go for inconsistent extremes but I exercise my dominion over the flesh (Romans 6:14) by being a consistent stable child of the Lion that sits on the throne. Thank you Jesus for making this possible for me.Thank you Jesus for grace in abundance; grace that helps me in time of need. Hallelujah. Amen.
And so folks because NIEPA hasn’t seen light in two months, my battery is almost dead so I have to stop here. Please any questions or remarks shouldn’t be directed to me but posted below in the comments section for the benefit of others. Also if these articles have inspired your inner writing skills, then please don’t resist but direct your pieces to uccfpublicity@gmail.com and it will be published in due time. GOD bless you all. Keep it real always. Keep on Kinging! UCCF rocks! Jesus reigns!!!
