UCCF Holiday Diaries 1
Hello friends….How are you all enjoying the last opportunity at living a normal life????(I kid…I kid….). I’m sure your holiday has been stockpiled and pressed down with lots of “Seun go and wash the car.” and “Jerry go and wash the toilet”, shaken together with “Dr. Marvellous, please I haven’t eaten since yesterday afternoon and I’m hungry, please what is wrong with me?” and running over with BOREDOM! Well, what really did you expect? You see the first, hardest and earliest lesson I learnt in University was that the perfect holiday doesn’t exist. You have to work hard to earn it and that in itself isn’t a holiday anymore. Anyways, enough of my classic trolling. Let’s talk business.
So it’s now well over a week since the holidays began. A lot was said over the course of our last two services (the Sunday service proper and the praise night) and I know most of us have done virtually NONE of them. It really takes a disciplined individual to use his/her free time for generally edifying activities talk more of using that time for GOD. There’s a whole lot to eat up your time. So when one man says “An idle man is the devil’s workshop” he probably knows what he is talking about. DON’T LET THE DEVIL USE YOU TO DO WORKSHOP THIS HOLIDAY.
The first thing will be drawing up and keeping to a well-planned and thought out schedule. You see one of the major reasons why Christians do not experience the levels of financial bliss that others do is because of a severe lack of discipline and hard work. When GOD sends down the rain, what works of hands will it bless if you do nothing (Deut 28:12)? Or what seeds will it give to the Sower if you have sown nothing (Isaiah 55:10)? So get out a schedule for each day of the week. Your schedule should contain more of edifying activities with rewards. For instance, I am generally known to be a hub of movies and one would think I just watch movies all day. WRONG! I usually use them as rewards for doing some sort of work. Like reading a topic in Physiology and then watching the movie at the end of that topic as my reward. So schedule out and don’t leave anything to chance. The greatest achievers in Life have well patterned life styles. Look into the scriptures and every achiever followed a pattern. These patterns had many things in common and we won’t go into all that now but the key is to be disciplined. Don’t be a sluggard and expect to be a King. Faith and faithconfessions aren’t for lazy people. When the bible says stuff about how we are kings and priests you must understand these guys where the hard workers of their time. Infact during war the King was at the fore front (not like how we have it with our Presidents of today). FAITH AND FAITH CONFESSIONS THEREFORE CANNOT WORK FOR LAZY AND INDISCIPLINED PEOPLE.
Lastly, I have to stress that GOD should come up in your schedule at least twice a day…You don’t have to start all theway from one hour at a go. NO…please start small. Thesethings take practice and if you give yourself targets you cannot meet it will do more harm than good. Just make sure you are gently but surely getting better…Alright that’s enough from me. We gonna be having more of this throughout your hols so always stay around the official UCCF media outlets..(Whatsapp and the blog)…And I hope this challenges people to write as well (Send to UCCFpublicity@gmail.com)
Meantime, keep enjoying the holidays and happyindependence (Please take out time to pray for Nigeria. Someone even had to scold me to do this. Shame on me). Stay Blessed. Bye……
Val.
