The Exchanged Life by Sister Seyitan OG, Academic Coordinator

Galatians 2:20 [KJV]
"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

The testimony of a Christian is not a changed life but an exchanged one.

Luke 9:24 [KJV]
"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it."
Our Lord Jesus here, note this, isn't telling us to give Him our lives instead He says to lose it/discard it /do away with it for His sake. Yes, this is one of those things that you need to do by yourself even as He stands with you. This is the hard truth that scares some people off. It's like throwing away your favourite pair of shoes when you see that it's no good. Lol even if it's not your favourite pair it'd still be hard. You can look at the shoes and still find a way to live with the flaws. "Ah, that cobbler can still repair it for me na" or "Is it not just to put gum" or "Shoemaker, abeg help me sew it round" but why do you want to Repair it when it can be Replaced? When it can be exchanged for a better suited pair, a pair that is made from incorruptible material, a pair that is eternal!
First and foremost, there is no text in the four gospels, book of Acts and the Epistles that correlates with the phrase “I gave my life to Christ”.
Faith in Christ is receiving from, not giving to Christ!
John 1:12[KJV]
"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name."
Believing is not giving but receiving!
In salvation, a man receives life by faith in the gospel alone.
John 3:16[KJV]
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
In Galatians 2:20, Apostle Paul describes for us how that the life which he now lived (after he discarded his life) although still in the flesh is the life that Christ lived in him.
Two things were pointed out here:
1. He still lived this Christ-life in the flesh. It therefore means that Eternal life, the God-kind of life begins here on earth. He lived it in the flesh. There's no waiting to get to heaven in order to live this Christ-life. It means that we can boldly say that by virtue of this exchange, we are living the days of Christ on earth again.
2. The key to living this life is Faith in the Son of God. It is very essential in our walk to remember that the key to unlocking this life is Faith. Now not faith in yourself but faith in Christ.
You see, what a lot of us don't know is that it is easy to misplace faith in yourself as Faith in Christ.
Observe Philippians 4:13 [KJV]
a.) I CAN DO ALL THINGS through Christ which strengtheneth me.
b.) I can do all things THROUGH CHRIST WHICH STRENGTHENETH ME.
These are actually two very different ways of quoting this particular verse of the scriptures. I'll leave it to you to decide where your emphasis lies and from there you can see for yourself the kind of faith you have been living by.
The good news remains that Christ is still very much interested in giving you His life and the key to living this life is Faith in the Son of God. This is the only way to boldly declare as Apostle Paul did in Galatians 2:20[MSG]
"Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not "mine," but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
