Tarrying means staying longer, extending and going beyond your limit in the presence of God. It also means to have a strong relationship with God.
God’s presence is a place where you see God’s face and enjoy Him to the fullest. This could be anywhere and not necessarily church.
> David was a man who tarried in the presence of God. So what differentiates you from great men of God is that; they tarried more in the presence in of God than you do. You can do better than they all.
> A lot of us has missed it because we hurriedly leave the presence of God. Therefore tarry in His presence to think of what He will do for you, what you can do for Him and what He has for you in the future. Also, tarry to hear Him speak after you have spoken to Him in the place of prayer.
(2 Kings 2:1-9;13-14)
> Elisha tarried with Elijah till he got double portion of Elijah's mantle. In the same manner, how much you tarry in God’s presence determines how far you go in life.
Needed factors for you to tarry in God’s presence
1. Holy Spirit:
Holy Spirit helps you to tarry long enough to hear God speak even after you’ve prayed for several hours. When you tarry in His presence, you will know what is needed of you to hit the point God has for you. Holy Spirit tells you what to do per time.
2. Spiritual Discipline:
We tend to lose blessings loaded in His presence when we are not disciplined spiritually and it takes a very long time to get these blessings back.
> If you’ve been asking God for something for a very long time & it has not been answered, check yourself for what is wrong.
> If you are spiritually disciplined, you can do greater things than some men of God have done.
> Spiritual discipline has to be exercised everywhere we find ourselves, not only among our Christian brethren.
N.B: When you tarry in His presence, you will be a carrier of His presence.
3. Friends of like-minds:
If you’re working with bad friends, definitely you can’t have a good relationship with God. Bad company corrupts good manners.

That is why God wants us to (and why we should) tarry with Him; to gain something and increase us.N.B Tarrying creates a place by which God’s presence grows and manifests as we linger.
