THANKSGIVING SUNDAY (4/03/2018)
Topic: A New Man in Christ II
Preacher : Pastor Valentine
Date: 4th of March,2018
NB: Righteousness is by faith not by works. Rom 9:30..., Rom10
The righteousness of God is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all upon themselves that believe. Rom3:22. If you are justified by the law( by your works) you have fallen from grace(Gal 2:16-21, 3:1-4, 5:1-4).
What a new man in Christ has :
-Grace
-Mercy
-Peace
-Joy.
> Knowing who you are in Christ can be broadly explained in the epistles of Paul.
> Paul knowing he is in Christ said he was crucified with Christ, though he wasn't there when Jesus was crucified. Gal2:20
> The moment you give your life to Christ, the subsitutional work of Christ on the cross is ascribe to you immediately. In Gal 2:20 Paul said he was crucified with Christ because he understood that the crucification of christ was for him. "What you believe will determine the experience that come to you". As man thinketh in his heart so is he. (Romans 23:7). If you think you are a sinner so you are.... If Christ didn't committee sin(Hebrews 4:15), how then was he made sin for us?... that was exclusively by faith.
> The first thing after righteousness is grace to live above sin. The man in Christ is not meant to struggle with sin but to reign in live through grace above sin. No matter the sin you might have be living in before you give your life to Christ, there is grace to pull you out (Rom5:20). Our spirit is born again not our mind, so giving your life to Christ won't wipe off your knowledge about the wrong youve done in the past but will transform your Spirit man.
Grace is an enablement over sin (1cor6:9-11)."As a new man in christ there is nothing that the grace of God can't bring you out from".
> The new man in christ is master over sin(Rom6:1-11). To overcome sin, you have to reckon yourself dead unto sin, hence, you live not in the sin anylonger therein. If you don't reckon yourself dead to sin, it's like removing housefly on a dung and not removing it off the spot, another set of flies will come.... so you have to deal with yourself ; reckoned dead to sin.
AUTHORITY (colossians 1:10)
Once you give your life to christ, God removes you inferio-superior from the level of darkness; far above.... sorted with God in heavenly places.
Finally: Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might, putting on the whole harbor of Christ.... taking the shield of faith(Eph 6:10-16). The Faith is about knowing who you are (Philemon 1:6, Rom10, Eph1:16).
